Replacing  MHRV / HRV Filters

You can replace the MVHR/HRV filters in your system quite easily yourself. How this is done varies depending on the system you have but it shouldn’t take more than 3 minutes. For an optimal indoor climate we recommend replacing your filters twice a year. If you do not know how to replace the filters please check your MVHR system manual.

We do not recommend cleaning filters with the vacuum cleaner as you will damage the density and structure of the filter thus decreasing its efficiency. Alongside this you will also vacuum some of the fungi and bacteria into your vacuum cleaner where it will stay and grow. Replacing the filters on time will assure you of a healthy, bacteria-free airflow and you will save on energy consumption.

Types of MVHR / HRV filters:

There are 2 types of MVHR/HRV filter. Filters with a wire frame and filters without a wire frame. The details of both can be found below.

Filters with a wire frame
A wire frame is a curved metal frame with the filter stitched on to it. These are used by the following brands: AWB, Brink, Orcon, Ned-Air, Rucon and Velu.

Filters without a wire frame
Filters without wire frames (the wire frame already exists as part of the system) are used by the following brands: Zehnder JE StorkAir, AGPO Ferolli, ITHO Daalderop, Berschenhoek and Zehnder.

Replacing heat recovery filters with wire frames:

  • Remove the power plug from socket. Never unplug the system for too long
  • Remove the front panel by sliding or turning. For exact removal, refer to your system user manua
  • Remove (by pulling) the dirty filters from the system. Insert the new clean filters in the unit.
  • For an optimal indoor climate, we recommend the fáir probiotic filter spray against fungi and bacteria. Apply f’air probiotic spray to the new filter before re-inserting it into the system. f’air probiotic filter spray also eliminates musty smells caused by bacteria and fungi.
