MASKING THE VENTILATION GRILLES IS A GOOD IDEA!

The energy bills are going through the roof. Mask the ventilation grilles!
Good idea….. or not?

NO! Masking the ventilation grilles is not a good idea!

It sounds logical to mask off the ventilation grilles in these harsh energy times. After all, less warm air can escape. But don't. Continue to ventilate well in your home. Masking the grilles is really not a good idea.

We have written about it many times in our blogs. Those who do not ventilate properly pay with their health sooner or later.
Washing, drying, cooking, using detergents, lighting a candle and many other things we do or use every day have a very big impact on the indoor climate.

And since we spend much of our time indoors during this autumn and winter period, this is the air you breathe.
If this polluted indoor air is not replaced with fresh air then it has a big impact on your health. Silverfish suddenly appear in the house and mould develops on the walls. These are signs that it is actually already too late. Because mould only develops after a longer period of high humidity in the house. Before mould becomes visible, the spores are already floating in the room you breathe in. This can lead to very serious health problems.

However, you can ventilate more effectively if you have an indoor climate monitor. This indicates which substances in the house are too high and you can ventilate at that moment. If the monitor indicates that the indoor climate is fine, you don't have to ventilate at that moment. The downside is that these indoor climate monitors are not cheap. Certainly not the better devices that measure the indoor climate not only for CO2 but also for humidity, VOCs, Ozone, Carbon Monoxide and Carbon Dioxide. All these different air components have a very big impact on your health.

The advice really is, despite huge energy prices, keep ventilating well.
